Illegal Doctor Simulator

Illegal Doctor Simulator is an interactive game using Mackey Mackey. Players will need to use Cardboard medical devices to finish missions shown on the screen. For example, taking out hearts, lungs, or blood. They will be able to accomplish actions using real-life objects instead of using the keyboard.

Early Design Thoughts

We first came up with the idea that players are the doctors who work in an illegal clinic. They need to steal some of the organs during the procedure or accomplish something they want to do, such as signing the patient's organs or eating them.

And the clinic security will come to check, so players need to be careful with the bar that shows their suspicious level and try not to get caught by them.

We thought the human body had so many organs and blood vessels, and we did not want players to get messed up by too many missions and medical devices. So we reduced the number of organs and devices players need to deal with.

Players only need to deal with the Brain, Heart, Lungs, and one big blood vessel

Playtest & Refine

We did lots of playtesting before week 2, and we found out that players would like to see more about what they down on the screen. So we added some animation to the patient(victim) to show the state of the game and what mission players have finished.

In week 3, we reinforced a lot of equipment, because we found that when players are playing, in order to catch up with the rhythm of QTE, they will involuntarily increase the force, and this behavior causes our cardboard props to break easily.

And we observed that many players can't hold the surgical scissors, so we changed the sensing area on the scissors to a place more suitable for players to hold.
